Relationship Tip #2

Meetings can create stress and unhappiness when not managed properly. When the whole team listens to a topic that goes on forever, ill feelings result and respect can be lost for the person managing the meeting. Time Tics are a great tool to manage discussions. Simply discuss the agenda as the first item of business at each of your team meetings. Have the team decide how much time should be allocated for each item, the order of items, and any additions or deletions. Then assign time tics to every item on the list. Have someone track the time consumed by each agenda item. If the subject is still open when time is up, choose from theses options:

•     More research/ fact gathering,
•     Team leader decides,
•     Discuss with person in question one-on-one, etc.

Stick to the time allotted and you'll be role-modeling an important skill for everyone involved and doing your part to keep the team productive.

Tools For Success SOLVING WORKPLACE PROBLEMS is a program that teaches a workplace process for solving problems. This program helps team leaders  and employees understand that by working together and looking at issues with a new perspective they can be creative and innovative in solving problems.
